An exceptional antique American pocket watch manufactured by the Elgin National Watch Company circa 1908 and housed in an ornate Brooklyn Watch Case Company hunting case marked "Warranted 14K U.S. Assay." Crystal face is missing.
This elegant timepiece features a beautifully engraved floral and scrollwork case with a monogrammed "B" centerpiece, reflecting the craftsmanship and artistry of the Edwardian era. The watch is accompanied by its original fitted presentation box, a rare surviving accessory that enhances both collectibility and display appeal.
The movement is signed ELGIN U.S.A. and bears serial number 16,495,341, dating manufacture to approximately 1908. The movement retains its original damaskeened finish and presents exceptionally well for a watch over 115 years old.
The white porcelain dial features bold black Arabic numerals, original blued steel hands, and a subsidiary seconds register at the 6 o'clock position. The dial displays beautifully and maintains excellent period character.
The case is marked "Warranted 14K U.S. Assay" and "B.W.C.Co." (Brooklyn Watch Case Company), one of the premier American watch case manufacturers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The rich gold tone, crisp engraving, and excellent preservation make this a standout example.
Whether acquired as an investment-grade collectible, display piece, heirloom, or addition to a serious pocket watch collection, this Elgin represents a beautiful example of early twentieth-century American watchmaking.
